Welcome to the website of Joseph Liu Violin Bow Studio.  I am Joseph, and I am a professional maker based in Los Angeles, California.  I individually make every instrument or bow from the beginning to the end.  The making proccess I employ is both time consuming and labor intensive, yet the reward is a high quality and unique instrument or bow for the discerning professional or advanced amateur musician.

Joseph Liu Violin Bow Studio celebrates one year in business! 

The first year has been very busy.  Some of the work accomplished:  Setting up shop (making and purchasing shop furniture, tools, molds and patterns, machinery), filing government paperwork and tax documents,  making this website, and printing business cards and stationery.

My wife and I also welcomed our first child Sophia into the world in December.  She is doing very well, and keeps us busy as new parents.

More to do: The second half of 2010 includes setting up photography lighting, more instrument and bow making, finding a location for the business closer to home, and traveling to Cleveland for the Violin Society of America Convention.

Due to the record high gold prices, gold mounted bow prices have been increased. 

4/27/10

Nicolas Maire violin bow copy is finished.  Detailed measurements and camber of a specific Maire bow were used for this bow.

Two Sartory model cello bows are coming next.

Violin based on the Ysaye del Gesu finished last month and silver mounted bow 2008 based on a Fetique have both been sold.

Violin made in 2000 was sold in Auckland, New Zealand.
